Its flavor can differ depending on the variety without altering its nutritional value. For its production, only Cretan carobs are used.

For a chocolate beverage, replace 2 scoops of chocolate with 3 scoops of carob powder. For cacao, replace it with equal quantity of carob powder. It can also be used in sweets, cakes, pastries, drinks and milkshakes like cocoa. As it is a natural sweetener it requires less additional sugar.
